Ayodele Olatunde is an accomplished Oil & Gas Industry professional with robust experience across various roles over the last three decades. His experience covers Geosciences studies, Asset Management, Field Development Planning, Business Planning, Economics, Strategy formulation, and implementation.
Ayodele joined Seplat Energy in 2014 as a pioneer GM, of Eastern Asset / Non-Operated Ventures (NOVs). He successfully transitioned OML53 within 15 months of takeover, and ramped-up production from 2,000bopd to over 12,000bopd.
Prior to joining Seplat, he worked as the Joint Venture Manager for British Gas in Nigeria where he deployed excellent interpersonal skills and good working relationships with stakeholders, regulators, JV Partners, and the board. Ayodele worked as General Manager of Exploration & Production with Conoil Producing from 2008 to 2014 where he deployed his skills in technical leadership and business planning to deliver outstanding results. During this period, he succeeded in adding OPLs 207, 256, 290, and JDZ-4 to the company’s portfolio. He made 3 exploration discoveries with Reserves addition of ca. 100 MMBLS and ramped up production from 13,000 to 36,000 BOPD within two years. Ayodele pioneered the deployment of Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) Seismic data acquisition in OML 59 and led the successful delivery of the deepest exploration well in the Niger Delta swamp terrain.
He is currently the Managing Director of Seplat West Limited, where he is championing business improvements through the application of decades of global experience utilizing state-of-the-art technology combined with sound business judgment to deliver spectacular results. He served as a director on the Boards of Newton Energy Ltd, Seplat East Onshore Ltd, Seplat Swamp Ltd (all wholly owned subsidiaries of Seplat PLC), and is currently a director on the Board of Elcrest E&P Nigeria Ltd.
Ayodele holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology & Mineral Sciences from the University of Ilorin and a Certificate of Management Excellence (CME) from the Harvard Business School Executive Education. He is an active member of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) amongst several other professional bodies. Ayodele is a creative and passionate leader committed to high performance and people development.
