OML-40
OPUAMA FIELD
Production from Opuama began in 1975, reaching a peak output of 11,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from five wells: Opuama-1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 in 1976.
GBETIOKUN FIELD
The Gbetiokun Field is situated to the southeast of the OML 40 block and was discovered in 1987 (Gbetiokun-1 well), drilled by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and further appraised by Gbetiokun-2 (SPDC) drilled in 1990-91.
SIBIRI FIELD
The Sibiri Field is situated in the western part of the OML 40 block, approximately 7 kilometers from the Opuama Field. The field was discovered in 2022 by the Sibiri-1 well, the first exploration well drilled by the NEPL/ Elcrest JV.
Elcrest in conjunction with its partner, NEPL, designed, constructed and installed a 55,000 BOPD capacity Lease Automated Custody Transfer unit (LACT) at the Shell operated Otumara flow-station.
Born out of the need for an alternate oil export option for the OML 40 production during the ~336-day shutdown of the Forcados Oil Terminal between 2016 and 2017. Elcrest adopted barging as an alternative option via the Benin River Valve Station (BRVS).
Abiala field is a marginal field carved out of the OML 40 block. The field was discovered by Abiala- 1 well drilled by SPDC in 1989. The field was excised of the OML 40 block in 2003 and awarded to Naphta Global Exploration & Production Ltd on the 28thĀ of June 2022 (PPL 209).
