The Sibiri Field is situated in the western part of the OML 40 block, approximately 7 kilometers from the Opuama Field. It was discovered in 2022 by the Sibiri-1 well; the first exploration well drilled by the NEPL/ Elcrest JV.

Sibiri-1 well encountered eight hydrocarbon-bearing sands, completed across D4000 and D2000 and tested via Extended Well Test (EWT).

Sibiri Field was further appraisal in 2023 by the drilling of Sibiri-2 and 2ST wells using a 2-in-1 well strategy. The Sibiri-2 well tested the Sibiri main block’s East flank at a position downdip from the Sibiri-1 well. The objectives of this well were met, with contacts identified in all reservoirs except the D4000, and the Stock Tank Oil Initially In Place (STOIIP) results were close to the pre-drill high case volumes. The Sibiri-2ST well encountered an extended section of the main Sibiri block, with oil found in nine reservoirs.

Production from the Sibiri Field commenced in June 2024, following Field Development Plan (FDP) approval in February 2024. The field is currently producing with the aid of a flowback tank and associated facilities, transported via a 7-kilometer bulkline to the Opuama Flowstation where it is processed and then evacuated through the existing export route onward to the Forcados Oil Terminal

The development of the Sibiri Field has provided an opportunity for further optimization of the Opuama 30,000 bpd capacity Flowstation.
